Artist Statement
Creating art has long been both a source of joy and a form of meditation. I am drawn to the quiet rhythm that emerges as paint moves across a surface or as disparate elements come together to form a unified image. The interplay of color, form, light, and shadow presents both challenge and delight, guiding each work as it evolves.
Working primarily in acrylic and watercolor, I also create assemblage sculptures from repurposed materials—transforming what is cast aside into something renewed. My process often begins with reference images and research, serving as a foundation for storytelling. Each piece is intended to evoke a response, whether nostalgic, contemplative, introspective, or quietly humorous.
My still lifes offer intimate glimpses into lived spaces, while my portraits seek to capture expression and the essence of the individual. Natural subjects, particularly rainforests and seascapes, reflect my deep connection to the environment. Themes of conservation frequently emerge in my work, highlighting endangered ecosystems and the fragile beauty of the natural world. Water, often depicted in its stillness, serves as a recurring symbol of life and continuity.
