Creating art has always been my means of meditation and source of joy. I revel in the meditative flow that happens as I move the paint on the canvas with my brush, or the arrangement of disparate items to match the image in my mind. The use of color, form, light and dark to create an image on a flat surface or a sculpture is both a challenge and delight. I explore different stylistic techniques in my works to suit my current intention. My primary mediums are acrylic and watercolor, but I also take castaways and repurpose them to create assemblage sculptures. I work from inspiration prompted by reference photographs and research to tell a story. My art evokes emotion; whether it is nostalgic, meditative, introspective or even humorous.

My still life creates a snapshot of life; they give you a peek into the life of the person or persons living in the space. I enjoy the challenge of painting portraits that capture expressions and convey the character of the sitter. I like painting the rainforest to capture and highlight these fleeting parts of nature which need to be preserved. Environment and conservation are at the root of most paintings, whether it's endangered species, endangered rainforests or the beauty of nature. Many of my seascapes focus on still water. Water is the life source of all living things.

One of my favorite artists is Diego Rivera. He was a visual storyteller. I feel art is a way to tell many stories and invite dialogue on diverse topics.
